What if access to clean water determined whether a child could attend school, whether a family stayed healthy, or whether a community could thrive?
In parts of Kenya’s Great Rift Valley, many families face severe water scarcity and poor groundwater quality. Unsafe or mineral-contaminated water impacts health, education, food security, and economic opportunity.
Last fall, members of our team traveled to Kenya to meet with community leaders, visit villages, and assess water needs firsthand. What we saw strengthened our commitment to help create a sustainable solution.
Together with Rotary partners in the U.S. and Kenya, and Kenyan community leaders, we are developing a clean water initiative that will benefit more than 18,300 people.
The Project
Community Water Infrastructure – Maai Mahiu Region
A sustainable pipeline system will deliver clean water from a reliable highland source to communities currently facing water scarcity and poor groundwater quality, serving 12,000+ residents.
School Clean Water Systems – Kenya Schools
The project also includes school-based water solutions:
• Water kiosks serving schools in the MURUKA community area
• A new Reverse Osmosis + UV purification system at Ndurarua Primary & Junior Secondary School in Nairobi, providing safe drinking water for 6,300+ students and staff

This project is being developed through Rotary’s Global Grant program, where community donations help unlock additional support from Rotary clubs, district grant funds, The Rotary Foundation, and other project sponsors.

How You Can Help
We are raising support to help fund this life-changing initiative and demonstrate strong community support for our upcoming Rotary Global Grant application.

$9 — Clean water for 1 person
$25 — Clean water for a family of 3 for life
$50 — Clean water for a family of 6 for life
$100 — Water access for approximately 12 people
$250 — Water access for approximately 30 people
$1,000 — A handwashing station and hygiene training for a community
$5,000 — A school water package: water kiosk, handwashing stations, and hygiene training serving 500+ children
Your contribution (of any amount) will be managed through Cross Timbers Rotary Charities, Inc. in support of the Kenya Clean Water Project. Donors will receive a tax acknowledgement.
