Help Bring Clean Water to 18,000+ People in Kenya

What if access to clean water determined whether a child could attend school, whether a family remained healthy, or whether a community could thrive?

In parts of Kenya’s Great Rift Valley, many families still struggle with severe water scarcity and poor groundwater quality. Unsafe or mineral-contaminated water impacts health, education, food security, and economic opportunity.

Last fall, members of our team traveled to Kenya to meet with community leaders, visit villages, assess water sources, and better understand the need firsthand. What we saw strengthened our commitment to help create a sustainable solution.

Together with Rotary partners in the US and Kenya, along with Kenyan community leaders, we are developing a major clean water initiative that will impact over 18,300 people.

The Project

Community Water Infrastructure – Maai Mahiu Region

A sustainable pipeline system will deliver clean water from a reliable highland source to communities currently facing water scarcity and poor groundwater quality, benefiting 12,000+ residents.

School Clean Water Systems  Kenya Schools

The project also includes school-based water initiatives:

• Water kiosks serving schools in the MURUKA community area

• A new Reverse Osmosis + UV purification system at Ndurarua Primary & Junior Secondary School in Nairobi, providing safe drinking water to 6,300+ students and staff

Your Gift Creates Multiplying Impact

This project is being developed through Rotary’s Global Grant program, where local donations can help unlock substantially larger funding from Rotary clubs, district grant funds, The Rotary Foundation, and other project sponsors.
